oh, the possibilities

Five days into the new me and I have discovered that I have a lot of hair on my head! You wouldn't know it from looking at me with it styled. In the morning I have been wetting it, putting in a little Mizani Moisturfuze conditioner, combing through it with a wide tooth comb & a very lite gel and tying it down with a satin scarf. It has been difficult to deal with leaving the house with my head wet in the dead of winter! But so far I have not been cold or sick. I just make sure that it is tied down tightly with that satin scarf and then cover it with sweater and jacket hoods & winter wool scarves.

I always knew I had a lot of hair, that's not what I mean. I mean it's looooong! And I had no idea Ola had left that much hair up there.

Come on...you didn't think it was this long, did you? Tell the truth!

I stayed up half the night putting two-strand twists all over my head. (Well that's not true - I left about 2 or 3 sections unbraided because I was falling asleep!) This time I didn't use any oil or gel, mostly because it was all very spontaneous. I was talking on the phone, using my hands free unit and before I realized it, I had twisted one row already. So I just kept going - wanted to see what it would look like with the twists and then once I took them out.

It certainly doesn't look like much in the pictures, but I was quite impressed with the way the curl set in just overnight, without styling products or anything! I just need to brainstorm & figure out how I'm going to parlay that into a real hairstyle. Also, next time I'll use some Organic Root Stimulator, Lock & Twist Gel. I purchased it when I had the braids and was very happy with the consistency of it - it's lite & smooth, not sticky or heavy.

I was also thinking that it might be fun to blow dry my hair, then twist it. Perhaps I'll try that next weekend.

Your blog took me back to myself about 6 years ago. I was "ready" I thought, and had my beautician cut the relaxer out of my hair and do flat coils (to start my locs) on what was left over. I almost had a heart attack when I saw what I looked like without my relaxer and a couple of tracks of weave. It took some time but I was finally able to love and accept myself without chemically straightened hair and now I cannot envision ever going back. My locs (not dreads because there is nothing dreadful about my hair!) are a representation of me, my beliefs, and my attitude towards life. Kudos Princess for taking the leap!!!

I absolutely love this blog! I've read it all (my mom is feeding Anderson his final meal of the day so I can catch up on email.) I am so excited to watch this transition...you are so beautiful!!! You're going to see my mom's display name since I'm on her computer and don't feel like signing her out only to sign myself in. Time to put baby to bed...I'll be checking this weekly (at least)! I MISS YOU!!!

Yes, I use it occasionally. I like it. I may use it when I do my twists the next time.
